The driving force behind the writing of this book is simply to communicate the powr, and facilitate the use, of Digital Signal Processing (DSP). In other words, to provide you the reader with the training, the tools and the building blocks necessary to assess and then unlock the potential of DSP in your own produta and services. We have set out to accopsplish this in a manner that is both easy to digest, simple to navigate, and uniquely 'hands on'
  There are more books on DSP than almost any other engineering subject (apart from computing!), yet no other DSP text on the market has the breadth of real-time examples,graphical visualization, or practical algorithm libraries (ToolBoxes) to be found here.From the very beginning, readers can experience the power and application of DSP,brought to life at their own PC terminal.   Applications available on the CD ROM that is included with this book are listed in Appendix 3. If you are currently at a computer, why not try these examples now:In common with other texts by the authors, the balance of the book is towrd a descriptive and visual explanation of the subject matter. Mathematical analysis is, of course,provided where appropriate but only in small (and hopefully manageable) doses.
  Hands-on algorithm solutions are presented in the form of ToolBoxes. There are a total of four ToolBoxes provided within the book: General purpose, Digital filter,Spectral analysis (FFT etc), and Special purpose algorithms. These are based on the building block approach to system design, and each algorithm is easily selected by looking for the corresponding block diagram symbol in the library at the front of each ToolBox. Here are a few examples:

  The text also contains many written examples and descriptions of devices for most of the mainstream DSP manufacturers. These are identified in the text by the following icons:
